Prophets and pundits around the globe have been heralding the ‘New Earth’ for some time now, speaking of a world that evolves beyond the rule of material possessions and ego-based relating, and becomes a living ecosystem of true human nature, humility, sharing and co-creation.
You might be thinking – that sounds pretty lofty, not in MY lifetime.
And that’s precisely the point. With everything that’s going on in the world, your mind may debunk the reality of the new Earth emerging. But what does your heart say?
Many people, particularly those who have been struggling for some time with the state of the planet, have had the dream of a ‘new Earth’ burgeoning in their hearts, their bodies squirming like a butterfly yearning to be released from its chrysalis.
If this is you, there is good news. It’s time. It’s time for your wings to expand and flutter and for you to do what you came here to do. And to remain in flight you’ll need to un-learn the ways of the past and remember your true nature.
The ‘New Earth’ needs Natural Creators
Perhaps while your wings have been preparing for flight, you’ve been growing a business, I dare say a conscious business. And perhaps you’ve increasingly found that the mainstream business growth methods feel ‘old school’ or simply don’t work for you anymore.
There’s a reason they don’t work. They’re not compatible with the new world.
Instead of ‘business owners’ we must learn to become ‘creators’, custodians of Mother Earth, creating by the laws of nature.
In order to become natural creators, we need to upgrade our internal operating systems:
- To stand up for Mother Earth and give her a voice
- To cooperate with each other for the greater good
- To transform the outdated systems, to un-create what we have created
- To be gently holistic in our approach to creation – mind, body, soul, Earth
As Natural Creators, as opposed to simply ‘business owners’, we need to challenge the status quo of how money is generated and circulated on this planet.
The path of the Natural Creator is not for the faint hearted, but the rewards can be immense. Are you ready to upgrade your business tool kit and become a Natural Creator?
A Natural Creator knows how to create by their own nature AND the natural world.
There’s a reason why many conscious or sensitive people have a hard time growing a business…
The way we are taught to build a business is largely unnatural. It defies the principles of cyclical growth, supportive ecosystems and diverse ways of creating.
When it comes to creating, nature is our greatest teacher. In order to create with the most ease and the least side effects (lost time, money and energy), we need to understand two things:
- How to create in rhythm with the cycles of nature – the natural timing of birth/life/death reflected to us by the sun, moon and seasons.
- How to create according to our most natural creation style – indicated by your primary vehicle for creation, your body’s shape & structure (because Not All Creators Were Made Equal).
Why?
All natural creations follow the same principles of growth.
The healthy growth of your business relies upon your ability to work in tune with the natural world and your own nature. When you work against nature, your productivity and your magnetism are diminished, and you have to apply force in order to maintain growth. This push-for-results approach is akin to the traditional model of business development.
Instead, imagine you are growing your business like a tree. That tree needs a range of nutrients at different times (innovation, partnership, networking, creativity, vision, evaluation etc) and you, the farmer, need to be attuned to your own rhythm AND the natural environment to be able to support and foster the tree’s growth over time.
A natural business thrives on Structure and Flow
Structure and flow are (literally) a match made in heaven: it’s the foundation of all of creation and it’s how we, as humans, are built, with our bone structure, organs and tissue that direct blood flow. And so in nature, a river flows with the structure of its walls, lightning creates electricity when channelled directly, a tree’s branches move because of its strong trunk, and lava flows when it is contained by the Earth’s structure.
Traditional business methods are excessively focused on structure – what is certain, consistent and digestible by the mind. Whereas our ‘New Earth’ requires a more balanced approach to growth.
Five ways a business becomes out of balance
When structure and flow are out of balance, the growth of a business becomes stifled and as Natural Creators, we need to know the signs:
Too much flow, fluidity + intuition, without structuring our time and resources means we often achieve less in a tangible sense (ie. money or impact).
Too much structure, planning + analysis, can override our creative impulse and we can end up working harder than necessary to get results.
There are five hallmarks of a business that is out of balance:
1. Business growth stalls at one stage
You can be in business for years and years and be stuck at the same stage of business development, such as figuring out your niche, or micro-managing your staff, or investing in marketing with little return. Each stage of growth warrants different strategies, so if you don’t know what stage your business is at, you’re potentially shooting in the dark.
2. Unrealistic goals and timeframes
Sometimes you don’t achieve your goals, not due to lack of planning and execution, but simply because your goals are not realistic given your life and/or business circumstances or stage of growth. Understanding the stages of growth can prevent you from expecting too much too soon.
3. Too many priorities at once
As a business owner, you’re required to juggle many balls at once and you don’t always have the luxury of outsourcing tasks you’re not naturally good at. Without prioritizing your actions, you can end up not devoting enough time to each important function, and your energy can be overly divided and therefore counterproductive. Focusing on one major function or priority each month or quarter, can increase your productivity over an entire year.
4. Neglecting core business functions
A pattern I’ve noticed since being a holistic business coach, is that people often tend to neglect particular aspects of their business, depending on their personal preferences and fears. For example, if you feel comfortable with being visible on social media, you may be more inclined to market yourself online, and perhaps neglect other backend business tasks such as bookkeeping and administration. Neglecting core functions over time can derail the success of a business.
5. Mimicking another’s growth pattern
As a unique individual, you have a particular style of creating. Yet, we are traditionally taught that there is only one way to grow a business – write a detailed plan and execute it. This may work for some, but for others it feels very unnatural, and for good reason. As in nature, there are a multitude of ways for people to bring an idea or vision into being. And it certainly doesn’t have to follow the linear route from Plan to Result.
How To Grow A Business Naturally
Since I have been actively teaching and using these natural principles, growing my business becomes easier with time. Here’s what I recommend…
1. We plan our strategic actions by cycles
It may feel like you’ll never get everything done in your business, and guess what – it’s true! Instead, we prioritize, and aim to handle one project and function at a time, each day, week or month on a repetitive basis, just like the cycle of the moon repeats every 29.5 days. In other words, we’ll be prioritizing the same function (eg. innovation) at this time next year and everything gets covered.
2. We feed the right nutrients for the stage of growth
When we know what stage of growth our business is at, we can apply growth strategies that are suitable to the size of its customer base, marketing reach and financial resources. Certain strategies only work for a mature business, with the ability to bear abundant fruit, versus a new business, which is still finding its roots.
3. We allow results to yield in ‘Earth time’
It’s easy for the ego-mind to expect faster results than what may be realistic, and we can be conscious of this by setting incremental goals that take into account the growth stage of the business. Every goal is achievable and celebrated, no matter how insignificant it may appear from the outside looking in.
4. We look for signs of stagnation
Being aware of growth cycles attunes us to our businesses on a much deeper level and can alert us to when growth is stagnating and trigger us to take corrective action. Business growth naturally ebbs and flows, and we are responsible for nurturing that growth through our sensitivity to the growth process.
5. We value dormancy for future growth potential
We are so used to being constantly switched on in our high-tech culture, that we need to consciously allow for times of hibernation and no visible growth. A business, just like a tree, can be built to survive and thrive from these periods of downtime, which rejuvenate the business for future growth.
6. We operate by our natural creation style
We can have all the know-how in business, but it doesn’t mean it will fit with our personal way of growing a business. Each person has a distinctive style or approach to creating, and it’s important not to try to emulate another person’s way without awareness of what works for you specifically.
~*~*~*~
When you understand your natural way of creating and you have a balance of flow and structure in your planning, you readily slip into in optimal creation mode; your business is able to thrive because you, as the custodian, are channelling your creative energy directly towards your goal with minimal resistance from within and around you. You become a Natural Creator.
How do YOU create by nature?
As Natural Creators, we become attuned to nature when we learn how to master our primary vehicles, our bodies. The speed, pattern and intensity of energy flow can be consciously directed through our bodies so that we create in the most natural way possible for our body type. You can learn more about the different styles of creation here or learn about planning by the natural cycles in our free Facebook group Business By Nature.
