{Pearls} 2018 Sacred Business Lessons

January 4, 2019 by Natalie Kent

Every year in January, I take time to evaluate the growth of Sacred Business over the previous year, according to the Sacred Business Skill Set. It’s a set of criteria that help me assess my ability to grow my business and highlight what I’ve done well and what needs further development. I thought I’d share what I’ve distilled from my successes and failures to spread the wisdom around.

Here are my top ten Pearls of Wisdom from 2018:

1. BOLD Actions Refine Your Market

Out of my 4.5 years in business, I really took some creative risks this year by launching new offers in new places in the flesh. It has been so valuable to test my market and see what really flies. If I hadn’t taken those risks, I would never know. I also noticed that these new offerings really consolidated my value proposition and my business niche in the minds of my tribe.

2. Don’t Underestimate The Value of FEEDBACK on New Offerings

Without asking for feedback, the new offerings that I put out this year would not have been as successful in my own head. Sometimes I really underestimated the impact of the work from my own perspective, and was pleasantly surprised at the incredibly positive feedback (thank you everyone!). This gave me the confidence to keep going, often on shaky ground.

3. Make On-boarding Easy For NEWBIES

A big deficit in my business this year is that I somewhat neglected the newbies coming into Sacred Business who have no prior knowledge and really need the fundamentals to get oriented and engage with me and the tribe.

4. Daily ENERGY WORK Is Essential

I wouldn’t have survived this year if I hadn’t been doing regular energy work to keep my field clear and centred in amongst all the chaos. There is no doubt in my mind that there is energetic interference happening on this planet that we need to recognise and rise above if we want to step into natural creatorship.

5. Gather the TRIBE Cyclically

The value of bringing the tribe together this year really hit home because I experienced the power of connecting with each other for a decent amount of time in the flesh. Each time we anchored new energy in the ground for ourselves and each other. The growth is exponential compared to travelling the path alone.

6. Know Who’s In Your ECOSYSTEM

I have learned the value of being selective about who you have in your business network and building relationships with specific people who share the same value system and are therefore more likely to be around for the long-term.

7. Balance Creativity & STABILITY

This year I was highly creative amongst great instability in my personal life, and while this was quite an adventure with many benefits, I ended up feeling like I was lacking the inner resources to keep going. In other words, I used up all my reserves in favour of productivity in my business.

8. Identify Where You Need SUPPORT

It has taken me years, but I am finally understanding the kind of support I need in my business to actually thrive in my zone of genius. I have been diluting my creativity by having to ‘do it all’ and not knowing how and who can best support me.

9. Understand Your DISASTER STATE

Every body has a natural state and a disaster state in terms of how they use their energy. This year I became well acquainted with the disaster state of the Tree Creator and it taught me so much about how I unwittingly lose energy which could be funnelled to more productive use.

10. Make Way For New BUSINESS MODELS

Because the business world is rapidly changing, it is no longer wise to only ‘look back’ at the business model which succeeded in the past. We are writing a new economy where we can afford to be experimental about how we generate and distribute money including profit sharing models, basic level income, human ecosystems and more.

{Pearls} 2017 Sacred Business Lessons

January 8, 2018 by Natalie Kent

Every year in January, I take time to evaluate the growth of Sacred Business over the previous year, according to the Sacred Business Skill Set. It’s a set of criteria that help me assess my ability to grow my business and highlight what I’ve done well and what needs further development. I thought I’d share what I’ve distilled from my successes and failures to spread the wisdom around.

Here are my top ten Pearls of Wisdom from 2017:

1. Honour The DEATH CYCLE

With so much emphasis on productivity, creativity and accomplishment, we need to learn the value of downtime and ‘not achieving’ at certain times throughout the year. Much regeneration can be happening beneath the surface when we stop trying to make progress and wait for a green light.

2. Clean Up Your PAST

Sometimes ‘looking back’ and addressing the relationships, knowledge and possessions you have accrued over time is an important part of being productive; it helps you to clear the slate for new creations.

3. Money Follows Your BODY’S FLOW

The state of your physical body – its flexibility, strength and efficiency – reflects how you create in the outer world. Your posture, weight distribution and fat-to-muscle ratio allow a certain amount of energy to flow naturally throughout your body – your money flow and how you grow your business will follow that same pattern.

4. Ideas Have a Natural GESTATION

Not all ideas must be acted upon immediately, sometimes they have an important gestation time that needs to be honoured. It’s ok to let some seeds lie dormant until it is time to take action.

5. People Show You Your Next OFFER

When you’re wondering what product or service you need to create next, look to your customers to show you what they want. There will be a concentration of people, queries or needs that can point to a new offering or opportunity for you consider.

6. Tap Into The MICRO ECONOMY

There is a trend towards greater diversity in types and prices of offers, especially since many people can’t afford high priced items in today’s economy. Consider expanding your revenue model to include offerings with a micro price tag and capitalise on volume instead of price.

7. Receive Guidance From The EARTH

Every business can be a co-creation with Mother Nature if we choose to listen. Ask for guidance from the elements, animals and plants about what steps to take next in your business, and experience greater ease and clarity as you grow your business naturally.

8. Track Ideas & Projects To RESOLUTION

Too many unfinished projects, content and ideas can mean you are leaving money on the table and clogging your creative engine. Keep track of inactive projects and follow through or close off those loose ends.

9. Claim Your Creative SPACE

We each have a unique view of the world that can be shared in myriad creative ways. Whether you’re a speaker, writer or other form of creator, claiming your place in the market through sharing your perspective can have a positive impact on your money flow.

10. Your Wounds Define Your SERVICE

We all carry emotional wounds from the past that are gifts in disguise. Know what your wounds are so you can be clear in the service you provide to people and how you actually help them along their journey through life. What personal wounds lie beneath your offerings?

Why Slow Business Wins The Race

July 10, 2017 by Natalie Kent

slow business: natural timing is on your side

For the last three years, I’ve been travelling around the natural wonders of Australia, in and out of wi-fi so I can build my business whilst maintaining my connection with nature. So much of what I teach is inspired by the success of our natural world, specifically how we can grow in harmony with all of creation, without sacrificing our health, relationships or our planet. It all begins with pace…

You may have heard of the emerging ‘slow business’ movement, which some progressive organisations and even well-known technology companies are adopting by choice. It urges people to reduce the pervasive fast pace of our economy and instead reap the rewards of organic growth. I call it living in ‘Earth time’.

Mind time versus Earth time

Our economy has been created largely from the mind, driven by the ego’s need to feel secure, overriding our innate sense of natural rhythm and timing. When the mind tries to control timing, life moves too quickly for our bodies and our environment to keep up with. It pushes us to create more and more, without looking square on at the side effects of maintaining such a high level of growth.

‘Mind time’ has yielded technologies that we as humans can barely keep up with, it’s left local communities without natural resources, people with permanently high blood pressure, and eroded intimacy in relationships. All because ‘there isn’t enough time’.

Living from the mind alone has resulted in much noise and distraction from what really matters: co-creating with each other and our planet from peace, not fear.

What’s more, we are so conditioned in our society for ‘overnight success’ – we only see the pinnacle of people’s work when it’s in the spotlight of (social) media. When we watch an athlete win a medal at the Olympics, we are not privy to personal, financial and physical sacrifices over many years that made it happen. We take it for granted and worse, become programmed into thinking ‘that’s all it takes, I can do that’. We’re only evaluating what we see. In my view, underlying all true success is slow progress.

What Happens When Business Becomes About Fame

March 8, 2017 by Natalie Kent

The ego’s desire for fame and popularity shows up in both sneaky and overt ways. I describe it as a desire to consume more than what you need. Even if you think you’re not motivated by fame, you might be surprised to learn how the fame monster lurks in all corners of our society…

Why are you an entrepreneur? To be rich or famous? Or both?

There are many successful and yet-to-be-successful business owners who want to be of service to people. But are they able to separate their desire to be of service and their desire to make money or to be recognized?

As I mentioned in my previous article, if money becomes the primary driver of your soul work, you’re actually avoiding your true soul work. And when money and survival is involved, it’s very easy to convince ourselves that we’re not in it for the success.

Success for many equals money or fame or both. Sometimes it’s conscious, sometimes it’s hidden deep in the recesses of the ego.

Unfortunately, the way business is delivered and conducted in our world panders to the ego, in fact, ego is what fuels our economy. It’s the reason we see huge marketing launches, greedy corporations, prolific and insidious advertising, and even claims by some businesses that they are ‘here to help us’ (think insurance companies, even hospitals). Are they really? Or are they trying to make money first, and help second? Or in the case of individuals, are they simply trying to be famous?

The drive for fame and/or fortune is a power trip that even shows up in the most spiritual or noble professions.

Let’s look at what has to happen in order for someone to become famous:

  • They have to have a following of people, masses of people
  • Masses of people have to divert their attention away from themselves and their own lives to focus on that person
  • Masses of people have to give their money to this person, either directly or indirectly

What does this create?

A redistribution of resources to a single person and the people who support that person in being famous.

It funnels resources away from many people, to the pockets of a few, and what do these famous people typically do with those resources? They buy more cars, more houses, consume more of everything to justify and even demonstrate the money they are making.

When even one person consumes more than what they need, everybody loses.

If we lived in a different world, where people were self-empowered with a strong sense of their own purpose, we wouldn’t need famous people. However, in our current world, I believe there is still a place for people to be known by many in order to fuel revolution. The difference is what drives them. Are they driven by the need for adoration and power? Or is their fame a consequence of the profound impact of their service to people? Big difference.

12 Ways You’re Avoiding Your Soul Work

February 20, 2017 by Natalie Kent

The last few days I have been frustrated beyond belief. Why? I had no idea.

Until I realized that the frustration I was feeling was due to NOT actualising my full potential in my work; side-stepping my true capacity to create what only I can create.

Let’s take a step back for a minute.

Why do humans create? Buildings, families, businesses, communities… Why do we do it?

Somewhere inside us we feel the pulse of creation, the creative force of the universe that is constantly evolving our reality.

This the purest form of creation. But what typically happens is this: we try to create for gain. Our own personal agenda gets in the way and we find ourselves thinking about something other than the creation itself: what we’ll get out of it.

In business it’s a common, but insidious thought that governs our behaviour:

‘What is going to make me money?’

As soon as our thoughts switch to money, we have lost touch with the creative impulse and our egos start to take over, for personal gain. What we create becomes about the money first and the creation second.

To clarify – We are right to think about our livelihood, but how can we possibly know what will support our lives? Quite simply, we like to think we know because it feels safer, but we don’t.

So the golden question emerges…

{Sacred Money} True Marketing with Tad Hargrave

August 5, 2016 by Natalie Kent

Welcome to the #SacredMoneySeries where I am exploring money strategies with fellow conscious business coaches. Grab a cuppa, sit back and let your own money-making juices flow!

Is your marketing message true and complete?

It’s taken me a few years of marketing, selling and serving people to really understand the core of my marketing message and how to convey it in a way that is true and complete. In other words, a message that speaks straight to the hearts of my tribe and honours them by giving them the complete picture about the choice they are possibly about to make.

So often we are sold things we don’t need, things that get shelved, which in my opinion is a sure way to tell that you bought something you didn’t need. To me, the most important message to ask when you’re marketing is ’how does this person find out whether they truly need what I am offering?’

So how do we establish genuine need through our marketing, doing our best to ensure that what we offer is a true fit for each person that buys?

This is where your ‘point of view’ really comes into its own in terms of your marketing, it helps people clearly see where you stand and make an truly informed buying decision. And this week’s guest is an expert at what he calls ‘Point of View Marketing’, which is the most powerful, impactful and integral marketing approach I’ve seen.

Tad Hargrave has crafted a way to articulate your point of view to offer a more true and complete picture of the solutions you offer. Tad talks about his Point of View marketing approach and how it really gets to the heart of what you are offering and how you connect with your tribe:

  • Why the 3 key elements of point of view can transform your business
  • Why you need to create a marketing map for your customers (+ a live critique of my own!)
  • How to craft your offerings in a way that creates a sense of safety
  • How the integrity of your offering is intertwined with your pricing

We start off by talking about the Rant Experiment, I highly recommend you take a look at Tad’s blog on that here

This is an in-depth interview that goes for over an hour, so if you only have a short time, I suggesting fast forwarding to 26:52 where Tad delves right into the nuts and bolts of Point of View Marketing with a live example.

Un-money: What To Do When You’re Not Motivated By Money

July 13, 2016 by Natalie Kent

not motivated by money

Hi, I’m Natalie and I’m a business coach who is not motivated by money.

What does that even mean, ‘not motivated by money’?

It’s taken me a long time to realize this about myself. I used to think I was motivated by money; from the outside looking in, I functioned like ‘everyone else’. I talked about money, set monetary goals, was happy when I made money and I charged above-average rates for my services.

But on the inside, I never really felt the connection. I was making myself function like everyone else, but I didn’t feel it. [I should have known when every single financial goal I ever set never came to fruition!]

It’s a strange thing to be in this world – to not be motivated by money… To not get excited by dollar signs, counting pennies and acquiring material things, like we see most people do.

I have had my share of money issues – not feeling worthy, avoiding my numbers, over-spending and more – and as I started to face these behaviours and beliefs, I began to see that to some degree, they were bound up in a ‘cover act’ to convince myself that I was ‘into money’.

That was my first breakthrough.

I was able to heal my relationship with money firstly by being honest in saying, ‘money, you just don’t turn me on’.

For a time, this was a very painful place to be, to realize I wasn’t into money and feeling like I had nowhere to go, no path to follow, especially in business. Facing this pain, which I believe is was really the pain of me denying my truth for so long, was part of the healing process.

Of course, none of this changes the fact that money is a reality we all have to face, and I had to find my way to work with it, so my ‘un-money’ mentality didn’t undermine me.

I had to find a way to embrace money.

{Sacred Money} True Freedom with Karen McMullen

July 6, 2016 by Natalie Kent

Welcome to the #SacredMoneySeries where I am exploring money strategies with fellow conscious business coaches. Grab a cuppa, sit back and let your own money-making juices flow!

Have you been taught to seek ‘financial freedom’?

I know I have. I have bought into society’s many beliefs and proven ways to make money in this world, and it hasn’t always served me.

I started out in business following the hype and the formulas that supposedly led to financial freedom. I soon realised that I didn’t feel free at all, in fact, I felt pressured and disconnected from myself. All in the name of the quest for ‘financial freedom’ or, in other words, ‘freedom through security’.

But does that really exist?

When it comes to the circulation of money on this planet, there is a much greater force that cannot be seen or understood. And, if we are constantly searching for security and certainty, we can never truly be free. This week in the Sacred Money Series, I spoke with someone who has seen the light of ‘conditioned’ business.

Karen McMullen created a 6-figure business and was living the lifestyle of her dreams (apparently), when she had a wake up call and chose a radically different path. She has invaluable wisdom to share about what brought her to a new understanding of ‘financial freedom’ including:

  • How to know whether your goals are ‘true’ for you
  • Why there is more to 6-figure business success than what is talked about
  • The true definition of financial freedom
  • What it takes to de-condition yourself from society’s ‘money norms’

{Sacred Money} Relationship Marketing with Lars Helgeson

June 5, 2016 by Natalie Kent

Welcome to the #SacredMoneySeries where I am exploring money strategies with fellow conscious business coaches. Grab a cuppa, sit back and let your own money-making juices flow!

How will your business grow?

Lately I’ve had to seriously think about where Sacred Business will be in the next 5 to 10 years and how the choices I make now will lead me there. What kind of choices really matter right now? The answer in my gut is ‘relationships’.

It’s the people we help and the people who help us, who ultimately become part of our vision coming to fruition. Relationships thrive on the meaningful contributions we make to each other, how we change each others lives for the better. This is how we build a conscious business, a gift to our planet that lives on after we are gone.

To me, relationships are our currency. And it’s a tricky one because we live in a world where technology is growing faster than humans can handle. In the Sacred Money Series this week, it was a relief to meet someone in the business of creating software who has the importance of people and organic growth in perspective.

Lars Helgeson is the CEO and founder of Greenrope, a software company built on organic growth and long-term relationships. He offers his experience of building a 100% virtual organisation from the ground up including:

  • How to build relationships as a foundation for business growth
  • Why ‘organic growth’ changes the culture of an organisation
  • What leadership qualities are required to build a company
  • Plus, a few insights into the type of software that is needed to sustain and grow with an organisation

Click here to listen to the audio interview

Side Note: I have since had a private demonstration of Greenrope and I must say I was impressed with the range of functions and level of integration from customer records to learning management to forms development and finance. I do recommend checking it out, even if your business is new.
