{Interview} Business In The Slow Lane

February 21, 2019 by Natalie Kent

Here I am with the Queen of #QuietMarketing and one of our #SaplingMembers, Dani Gardner, for a chat about business with less tech, more nature and sustainable results!

I really admire Dani for breaking the mould of business/marketing/social media in the fast lane as she mentors other entrepreneurs to take the slow road to success. That’s not an easy thing when every piece of mainstream business propaganda is telling us to hurry up!

She herself is an example of what’s possible to create from more presence and less hustle.

Dani works 4 days per week and practices Sabbath, a full 24 hours total downtime each week – that means no internet and no reading!

Check Dani’s work out over here: https://www.danigardner.com

She also has a blog on Sabbath for business if you’re thinking of taking a leaf out of her book: https://www.danigardner.com/blog/keeping-sabbath

{Pearls} 2018 Sacred Business Lessons

January 4, 2019 by Natalie Kent

Every year in January, I take time to evaluate the growth of Sacred Business over the previous year, according to the Sacred Business Skill Set. It’s a set of criteria that help me assess my ability to grow my business and highlight what I’ve done well and what needs further development. I thought I’d share what I’ve distilled from my successes and failures to spread the wisdom around.

Here are my top ten Pearls of Wisdom from 2018:

1. BOLD Actions Refine Your Market

Out of my 4.5 years in business, I really took some creative risks this year by launching new offers in new places in the flesh. It has been so valuable to test my market and see what really flies. If I hadn’t taken those risks, I would never know. I also noticed that these new offerings really consolidated my value proposition and my business niche in the minds of my tribe.

2. Don’t Underestimate The Value of FEEDBACK on New Offerings

Without asking for feedback, the new offerings that I put out this year would not have been as successful in my own head. Sometimes I really underestimated the impact of the work from my own perspective, and was pleasantly surprised at the incredibly positive feedback (thank you everyone!). This gave me the confidence to keep going, often on shaky ground.

3. Make On-boarding Easy For NEWBIES

A big deficit in my business this year is that I somewhat neglected the newbies coming into Sacred Business who have no prior knowledge and really need the fundamentals to get oriented and engage with me and the tribe.

4. Daily ENERGY WORK Is Essential

I wouldn’t have survived this year if I hadn’t been doing regular energy work to keep my field clear and centred in amongst all the chaos. There is no doubt in my mind that there is energetic interference happening on this planet that we need to recognise and rise above if we want to step into natural creatorship.

5. Gather the TRIBE Cyclically

The value of bringing the tribe together this year really hit home because I experienced the power of connecting with each other for a decent amount of time in the flesh. Each time we anchored new energy in the ground for ourselves and each other. The growth is exponential compared to travelling the path alone.

6. Know Who’s In Your ECOSYSTEM

I have learned the value of being selective about who you have in your business network and building relationships with specific people who share the same value system and are therefore more likely to be around for the long-term.

7. Balance Creativity & STABILITY

This year I was highly creative amongst great instability in my personal life, and while this was quite an adventure with many benefits, I ended up feeling like I was lacking the inner resources to keep going. In other words, I used up all my reserves in favour of productivity in my business.

8. Identify Where You Need SUPPORT

It has taken me years, but I am finally understanding the kind of support I need in my business to actually thrive in my zone of genius. I have been diluting my creativity by having to ‘do it all’ and not knowing how and who can best support me.

9. Understand Your DISASTER STATE

Every body has a natural state and a disaster state in terms of how they use their energy. This year I became well acquainted with the disaster state of the Tree Creator and it taught me so much about how I unwittingly lose energy which could be funnelled to more productive use.

10. Make Way For New BUSINESS MODELS

Because the business world is rapidly changing, it is no longer wise to only ‘look back’ at the business model which succeeded in the past. We are writing a new economy where we can afford to be experimental about how we generate and distribute money including profit sharing models, basic level income, human ecosystems and more.

When ‘Business’ Doesn’t Work

February 20, 2018 by Natalie Kent

Prophets and pundits around the globe have been heralding the ‘New Earth’ for some time now, speaking of a world that evolves beyond the rule of material possessions and ego-based relating, and becomes a living ecosystem of true human nature, humility, sharing and co-creation.

You might be thinking – that sounds pretty lofty, not in MY lifetime.

And that’s precisely the point. With everything that’s going on in the world, your mind may debunk the reality of the new Earth emerging. But what does your heart say?

Many people, particularly those who have been struggling for some time with the state of the planet, have had the dream of a ‘new Earth’ burgeoning in their hearts, their bodies squirming like a butterfly yearning to be released from its chrysalis.

If this is you, there is good news. It’s time. It’s time for your wings to expand and flutter and for you to do what you came here to do. And to remain in flight you’ll need to un-learn the ways of the past and remember your true nature.

The ‘New Earth’ needs Natural Creators

Perhaps while your wings have been preparing for flight, you’ve been growing a business, I dare say a conscious business. And perhaps you’ve increasingly found that the mainstream business growth methods feel ‘old school’ or simply don’t work for you anymore.

There’s a reason they don’t work. They’re not compatible with the new world.

Instead of ‘business owners’ we must learn to become ‘creators’, custodians of Mother Earth, creating by the laws of nature.

In order to become natural creators, we need to upgrade our internal operating systems:

  • To stand up for Mother Earth and give her a voice
  • To cooperate with each other for the greater good
  • To transform the outdated systems, to un-create what we have created
  • To be gently holistic in our approach to creation – mind, body, soul, Earth

As Natural Creators, as opposed to simply ‘business owners’, we need to challenge the status quo of how money is generated and circulated on this planet.

The path of the Natural Creator is not for the faint hearted, but the rewards can be immense. Are you ready to upgrade your business tool kit and become a Natural Creator?Continue Reading

{Pearls} 2017 Sacred Business Lessons

January 8, 2018 by Natalie Kent

Every year in January, I take time to evaluate the growth of Sacred Business over the previous year, according to the Sacred Business Skill Set. It’s a set of criteria that help me assess my ability to grow my business and highlight what I’ve done well and what needs further development. I thought I’d share what I’ve distilled from my successes and failures to spread the wisdom around.

Here are my top ten Pearls of Wisdom from 2017:

1. Honour The DEATH CYCLE

With so much emphasis on productivity, creativity and accomplishment, we need to learn the value of downtime and ‘not achieving’ at certain times throughout the year. Much regeneration can be happening beneath the surface when we stop trying to make progress and wait for a green light.

2. Clean Up Your PAST

Sometimes ‘looking back’ and addressing the relationships, knowledge and possessions you have accrued over time is an important part of being productive; it helps you to clear the slate for new creations.

3. Money Follows Your BODY’S FLOW

The state of your physical body – its flexibility, strength and efficiency – reflects how you create in the outer world. Your posture, weight distribution and fat-to-muscle ratio allow a certain amount of energy to flow naturally throughout your body – your money flow and how you grow your business will follow that same pattern.

4. Ideas Have a Natural GESTATION

Not all ideas must be acted upon immediately, sometimes they have an important gestation time that needs to be honoured. It’s ok to let some seeds lie dormant until it is time to take action.

5. People Show You Your Next OFFER

When you’re wondering what product or service you need to create next, look to your customers to show you what they want. There will be a concentration of people, queries or needs that can point to a new offering or opportunity for you consider.

6. Tap Into The MICRO ECONOMY

There is a trend towards greater diversity in types and prices of offers, especially since many people can’t afford high priced items in today’s economy. Consider expanding your revenue model to include offerings with a micro price tag and capitalise on volume instead of price.

7. Receive Guidance From The EARTH

Every business can be a co-creation with Mother Nature if we choose to listen. Ask for guidance from the elements, animals and plants about what steps to take next in your business, and experience greater ease and clarity as you grow your business naturally.

8. Track Ideas & Projects To RESOLUTION

Too many unfinished projects, content and ideas can mean you are leaving money on the table and clogging your creative engine. Keep track of inactive projects and follow through or close off those loose ends.

9. Claim Your Creative SPACE

We each have a unique view of the world that can be shared in myriad creative ways. Whether you’re a speaker, writer or other form of creator, claiming your place in the market through sharing your perspective can have a positive impact on your money flow.

10. Your Wounds Define Your SERVICE

We all carry emotional wounds from the past that are gifts in disguise. Know what your wounds are so you can be clear in the service you provide to people and how you actually help them along their journey through life. What personal wounds lie beneath your offerings?

Why Slow Business Wins The Race

July 10, 2017 by Natalie Kent

slow business: natural timing is on your side

For the last three years, I’ve been travelling around the natural wonders of Australia, in and out of wi-fi so I can build my business whilst maintaining my connection with nature. So much of what I teach is inspired by the success of our natural world, specifically how we can grow in harmony with all of creation, without sacrificing our health, relationships or our planet. It all begins with pace…

You may have heard of the emerging ‘slow business’ movement, which some progressive organisations and even well-known technology companies are adopting by choice. It urges people to reduce the pervasive fast pace of our economy and instead reap the rewards of organic growth. I call it living in ‘Earth time’.

Mind time versus Earth time

Our economy has been created largely from the mind, driven by the ego’s need to feel secure, overriding our innate sense of natural rhythm and timing. When the mind tries to control timing, life moves too quickly for our bodies and our environment to keep up with. It pushes us to create more and more, without looking square on at the side effects of maintaining such a high level of growth.

‘Mind time’ has yielded technologies that we as humans can barely keep up with, it’s left local communities without natural resources, people with permanently high blood pressure, and eroded intimacy in relationships. All because ‘there isn’t enough time’.

Living from the mind alone has resulted in much noise and distraction from what really matters: co-creating with each other and our planet from peace, not fear.

What’s more, we are so conditioned in our society for ‘overnight success’ – we only see the pinnacle of people’s work when it’s in the spotlight of (social) media. When we watch an athlete win a medal at the Olympics, we are not privy to personal, financial and physical sacrifices over many years that made it happen. We take it for granted and worse, become programmed into thinking ‘that’s all it takes, I can do that’. We’re only evaluating what we see. In my view, underlying all true success is slow progress.

Not All Creators Were Made Equal

June 15, 2017 by Natalie Kent

If you are a business owner, you are a creator.

If you are a parent, you are a creator.

If you are an artist, an athlete, a bartender or a blogger, you are a creator.

We are all creators in some form or another; we each have the capacity to set our intention and through co-creation, bring it to fruition. This form of conscious creation is one of the pinnacles of being human: to align with our vision and co-create with the universe to make it reality.

Conscious creators on this planet are very powerful, especially in the world of business, sweeping people up in their vision and supporting their livelihoods, building mutually beneficial relationships and directing money flow. You may wonder how these people do it. How is it that they seem to create something from nothing?

Conscious creators have one thing in common – they know how to live in their creative flow. They know how to channel their life force energy for a productive purpose. They know how to slipstream into their natural creation style, and more importantly, they don’t go against it.

Most people who are struggling through life resist their creative flow, they shut it down, channel it in destructive ways, or deny that they have the power to create what they desire at all.

Yes, this is partly choice, but there is more to it than that. Do you ever feel the pressure to create in a way that doesn’t feel right, or simply doesn’t work for you?

In our Western culture, we’re told that we should create according to a universal formula…

Decide what you want.

Set a goal.

Go for it.

Fast.

And, if you have any resistance to this way, you need to ‘blast through those fears and get your head in the game’.

For some of us, this works, at least for a while. But it’s not the whole equation and it certainly doesn’t work for everyone. Here’s the catch:

The Rise of the ‘Business Ecosystem’

April 27, 2017 by Natalie Kent

You can do everything you’re supposed to do in business and get so far. I know I followed the formula that is espoused by successful solo entrepreneurs.

I got clear on my niche and what I can offer that is distinct in my industry.

I learned how to do online marketing, funnels and all the fun stuff.

I dissolved my ego drives to the point where I could have effective sales conversations without anxiety.

I spent years working through my ‘money issues’ (which were hardly to do with money at all) to deal with my finances with confidence.

Yet after all this, there was still something missing.

I was missing a sense of family, my business family; folks like me who are in business for the same reasons, with similar values. The people who understand me. MY people.

So I started dreaming about not being alone, about being surrounded by other business owners like me for a purpose beyond just making money. And that’s when my idea of a business ecosystem was conceived.

Home is not where you live, it’s where people understand you

As humans, we all yearn to be part of something, to belong, to be surrounded by people who ‘get’ what we’re trying to be and do in life. If you’re doing business differently, it can be hard to find your people amongst all the noise about how you should be making money. It may seem like a necessary inconvenience filtering out the mayhem and paving the way on your own, but I’ve found that it’s more isolating than ever.

Are you flying solo in business? I’ve been a solopreneur for nearly 4 years and I’ve tried joining groups and networks to find others out there with a similar approach to business. But I never quite found what I was looking for, none of them ever ‘stuck’. And I eventually figured out why.
